United Way distributes books to more than 700 children

Savannah, J.A.; (WSAV) – Coastal Empire’s United Way distributed books to more than 700 children at 11 locations across Bryan, Evingham and Liberty counties on Friday.

In addition to distributing books, volunteers at some sites read to children as well.

The distribution of the books is made possible by the partnership with the summer food programs offered by the school systems in the aforementioned districts.

The Summer Reading Program is part of the Read United initiative by the United Way. The main focus of this initiative is to close the reading gap in low-income families. You can read more about the initiative by clicking on the link here.
