Top 50 players at the 2022 World Cup, No. 42: Gareth Bale

FOX Sports football analyst and former USMNT midfielder Stu Holden counting down the top 50 players participating in 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar. Next is…

Gareth Bale

Country: Wales
Rank: 42
Position in 2018: REACH
Position: Striker
Age: 33

Gareth Bale has achieved almost everything a player can at club level, including five Champions League titles and three domestic titles with Real Madrid. His most recent achievement was winning the Supporters’ Shield with LAFC in his first season in MLS.

Internationally, however, Bale has not experienced great success. This year, that could change for him and Wales.

“When you think about Wales being there for Gareth Bale, his dream as a child to represent his nation in a World Cup,” said Holden. “They do it for the first time since 1958 and they land themselves in a group against England, Iran and the USA. The LAFC man will be very familiar with American football by the end of his time in MLS, but will we see him and Wales making noise in Qatar?”

No. 42: Gareth Bale

Wales’ Gareth Bale is known for his technical ability, speed and finishing.
