Royal fans are flocking to the Queen’s first appearance since the Jubilee – “Look at her smile!” | Royal | News

Her Majesty the Queen has traveled to Scotland for a number of royal engagements as part of Holyrood Week. Buckingham Palace had previously said the Queen, who has had mobility issues in recent months, may not make the trip.

However, royal fans were overwhelmed with joy on social media at footage of the monarch getting off a train in Edinburgh unaided.

One Twitter user wrote: “What a wonderful smile, Your Majesty.”

Another added: “Happy and Glory in Scotland.”

Another user said, “Doesn’t our queen look great?!”

A fourth commented: “It’s great that the Queen in Edinburgh today looks as royal as ever. Well done, Your Majesty. For so long you can lord it over us.”

On Instagram, royal fans could hardly contain their excitement.

Instagram user georgetriantaris said: “The Queen looks amazing. She must be thrilled to be in Scotland.”

Meanwhile, sandrine_roux75 added: “She’s amazing! Look at her smile.”

During the ceremony, the Queen was symbolically handed the keys to the Scottish capital by Lord Provost.

In keeping with tradition, she then brought them back, and entrusted the city’s elected officials with keeping them.

On Tuesday, the King attended a ceremony for the armed forces in the gardens of the Palace of Holyroodhouse.

The event saw members of the armed forces parade in front of the Queen as part of the Edinburgh Castle Key Show.
