Ricciardo encouraged by “a little breakthrough after Monaco”

On the Tour: After a tough period of racing, Daniel Ricciardo says he’s making progress at McLaren.

Briefly

Ricciardo is happiest in the car since Monaco

After comments made by McLaren Racing CEO Zak Brown fueled speculation about Ricciardo’s future, the driver faced a tough weekend in Monaco where he was behind teammate Lando Norris.

But after informal talks with the team’s top management and further work on the team simulator, Ricciardo saw signs of real progress.

“It’s not like you need to kick the butt,” he said after the Canadian Grand Prix. “I’m not silly, I know where my results are and I know what’s good and what isn’t. They’re really trying, again, to see if there’s anything they can do to help.”

“But I felt like we made a little bit of progress after Monica was in the factory on the simulator, we tried a few things and I think even though our result today wasn’t good, I think the last weekends were definitely better and showed more hope.”

Red Bull’s Edgar is back from illness

FIA Formula 3 racer Johnny Edgar will return to the series this weekend. After starting the season in Bahrain with two heads, he missed the last four races due to illness.

The Red Bull Junior driver has been diagnosed with Crohn’s disease, which causes inflammation of the digestive system. He said on social media yesterday that he is now “improved enough to be back in racing” on his home run next weekend with Trident.

“In addition to my family and friends, I have so many people I want to thank for making this possible, in particular Dr. Helmut Marko and everyone at Red Bull, Trident Motorsport, Dr. Phil Batty, Mr. Mike Davison, Dr. David Nylander, Dr. Ally Speight and their team at RVI Newcastle and Sam Village, Jeff Thorpe, and BRDC”.

Hamilton ‘disgusted’ by US abortion ruling

Lewis Hamilton took to social media to condemn yesterday’s ruling by the US Supreme Court that the country’s constitution does not provide for the right to abortion, overturning a precedent established in 1973.

“I am disgusted by the decision made by the United States Supreme Court today,” Hamilton said. I don’t understand why some pushed into power and kept pushing for millions of people to be stripped of their rights. This decision will affect the most vulnerable among us. Women, people of color, LGBTQIA+ community members, etc.”

“The following organizations provide resources to protect people who need them and fight to ensure peoples’ rights to choose,” he added. “Planned Parenthood Matches Donations. ACLU Struggles to Expand Access and Protect Reproductive Rights and Fundamental Freedoms.”
