Store heads confirmed an accident on Monday.

They were unable to provide more information about what happened or the condition of the young child.

A shopper who was in the store at the time said she had stopped hearing the “poor baby’s cry”.

I asked locals on Facebook if anyone knew if the child had been badly injured.

“A little girl fell off an escalator at Romford Primark yesterday,” she wrote.

“Does anyone there know if the baby is okay or not?

“It seems I can’t get the poor child’s screams out of my mind.”

One commenter claimed to know a worker from the store.

They said the little boy was “only two weeks old”.

Another poster wrote: “Parents must be destroyed.”

A Primark spokesperson said: “We are aware of an incident that occurred at our Romford store on Monday.

“Our colleagues were ready to provide assistance and support.

“We hope the child and family are in good health.”

No information was provided on the child’s condition.

Neither the Met Police nor the London Ambulance Service had details of the incident.
