The horror is believed to have occurred at the branch in Romford, east London, in front of customers who have since expressed their shock and concern. A shopper wrote on one of his Facebook pages: “A baby fell off the escalator at Romford Primark yesterday, does anyone know if the baby was OK or not, as I can’t seem to get the poor baby screaming in my mind” .
May London reported that the incident occurred on Monday at the discount store chain.
Primark, which has more than 150 stores in the UK, is “aware of an incident”.
One person, who claims to know a worker from the store, commented that the baby was “only two weeks old”. Others shared their best wishes for the child.
One Facebook user wrote: “I hope the poor baby is OK. Young children are sometimes hard to control, but baby is a baby? Parents must be broken.”
Another added, “Oh my God, how did that happen, I hope the baby is OK.”
A Primark spokesperson told My London: “We are aware of an incident at our Romford store on Monday. Our colleagues were on hand to offer help and support. We hope the child and family are doing well.”
No further details about the child, including their gender, condition or location, have been revealed at this point.
London Met London Police and London Ambulance Service have contacted me for comment but they had no details of the incident.
