The lifeless body of a man in his 50s was found in a residential building in the Notre-Dame-de-Grâce district in southwest Montreal early Monday morning.
Soon after, the Montreal police (SPVM) declared the death suspicious, as traces of violence were found on the body.
Police were notified by a 911 call shortly after midnight to assist a man at the multi-unit apartment building located near the intersection of Montclair and Fielding Avenues.
On arrival, the police found the 51-year-old man unconscious. He was pronounced dead a short time later and a security perimeter was set up to allow investigators to comb the area.
At the end of the night, the SPVM was still unable to establish a hypothesis to explain what led to the individual’s death. It did not know if he was known to the police.
No arrests had been made.
The area is mostly residential, but there are also some commercial establishments.
