Montreal Canadiens unveil 2022-23 Opening Night roster

That Montreal Canadiens have revealed their opening night line-up for the 2022-23 season.

All teams had to release their roster before 5pm Eastern.

After placing defensemen Corey Schueneman and Madison Bowey on waivers Sunday, the Canadiens reached the 23-player limit by placing Joel Armia (out one to two weeks) and Joel Edmundson (out indefinitely) on Injured Reserve and sending goaltender Cayden Primeau, defenders Justin Barron and Otto Leskinen, and forward Rafaël Harvey-Pinard and Jesse Ylönen to the Laval Rocket.

2022 first overall pick Juraj Slafkovský has made the cut along with rookie defensemen Kaiden Guhle, Jordan Harris and Arber Xhekaj.

There are still decisions to be made as two forwards and a defenseman will sit out Wednesday night when the Canadiens host Toronto Maple Leafs in their opening game.

Also through waivers and other moves, there is a possibility that things could change before Wednesday, when general manager Kent Hughes meets the media.
