Mass shooting at a gay club in Norway kills two and injures at least 14

A shooting at a gay nightclub in Oslo killed two people and injured 14 others on Saturday, hours before the Norwegian capital was set to host its annual Pride Parade.

A suspect believed to be the only shooter was arrested shortly after the shooting massacre, which centered around a London pub and spread to a nearby establishment and street.

“I saw a man arrive with a briefcase, he picked up a gun and started shooting,” said journalist Olaf Roenberg of public radio station NRK.

Police spokesman Tori Barstad said the motive was not immediately known and it was not clear if the shooting had anything to do with Saturday’s Pride parade.

Police are in contact with the organizers of this Saturday’s Pride event. “There will be an ongoing assessment of what actions the police should take to protect this event and whether this incident has anything to do with pride,” Barstad told reporters.

Norwegian police said it was not immediately known if the shooting in the club was linked to the Pride parade, which was scheduled to take place hours later on Saturday.
