Keanu Reeves has reportedly walked away from Leonardo DiCaprio and Martin Scorsese The Devil in the White City series for Hulu.
As reported by VarietyReeves will no longer play Burnham in the adaptation of the 2003 book by Erik Larson, which was supposed to be the first major television role of the actor’s career.
Devil in the White City is set in Chicago as Daniel Burnham struggles to create the 1893 World’s Fair while serial killer HH Holmes (played by DiCaprio) plans to use it as a murder destination. DiCaprio committed to the role way back in 2009, and confirmation that Scorsese would direct came in 2015.
Reeves’ participation was only aired much later, however talks between the Matrix actor and Hulu are reportedly taking place in January 2022. His starring role as Burnham was only confirmed in Augustmeaning it only took two months for Reeves to cancel his first venture on the small screen.
Of course, he still has a lot on his plate, as Reeves was recently confirmed returns to the Phantom Liberty expansion of the Cyberpunk 2077 video game. John Wick: Chapter 4 will also see him return as the lead when it premieres on March 24, 2023.
As for his dream projects, Reeves has expressed interest in joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe and maybe more, wants to play Batman in a live action movie.
