TACO Bell introduced two new ingredients that spin into a popular yet unexpected snack.
The fast-food masterminds of the Mexican-inspired chain have combined with Cheez-It to create the Big Cheez-It Tostada and the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme.
Both items use classic Taco Bell ingredients with the new Cheez-It invention.
The Big Cheez-It Tostada at Taco Bell’s Big Cheez-It Tostada uses an extra-large Cheez-It biscuit in place of the tortilla as the tostada.
Then the cheese tostada is covered with marinated beef, sour cream, diced tomatoes, lettuce and shredded cheddar cheese.
Customers can try a tostada featuring the Cheez-It cookies they know and love but this time a cracker that’s 16 times the original size.
“There are a few things everyone can agree on…but the distinct flavors from Taco Bell’s menu items and Cheese It snacks appeal to us,” Liz Matthews, Taco Bell’s chief food innovation officer, said in a media statement.
“We are thrilled with this new concept with Cheez-It, which gives our fans the opportunity to experience the real cheese and crunch they love from our brand in a whole new way.”
The Mexican-inspired series has also added Cheez-It innovation to the popular Crunchwrap Supreme.
“Like its original counterpart, this version includes marinated beef, nacho cheese sauce, lettuce, reduced-fat sour cream, and diced tomatoes,” the statement read.
But the typical tostada crust is replaced by an oversized Cheez-It biscuit before it’s wrapped inside a grilled tortilla.
However, Taco Bell clarified that this last option is only available to order online.
In regular Taco Bell fashion, the two new items are offered at a very reasonable price.
Customers can expect to pay $2.49 for the Big Cheez-It Tostada while the Big Cheez-It Crunchwrap Supreme is listed at a slightly higher price of $4.29.
“This partnership is a true testament to Cheez’s success—it’s continued success and commitment to innovation,” said Stephanie Miller, president of a Kellogg chapter called Away From Home.
“We are excited to incorporate Cheez-It – made with 100 percent real cheese – into our Taco Bell favorites and offer customers a bold and tacky twist on the popular chain’s main menu.”
The new Crunchwrap Supreme is offered only as an exclusive digital show as part of a single restaurant test.
Taco Bell’s Big Cheez-It Tostada is currently offered at only one Taco Bell location.
Customers can visit the Irvine website at (2222 Barranca Pkwy, Irvine, CA 92606) to purchase new items.
For two weeks or while supplies last, customers will be able to try new menu items while testing.
