Hundreds of runners will take on the Dromtrasna Challenge

Hundreds of runners will descend on West Limerick for the Dromtrasna Challenge – in aid of Milford Care Center – on Saturday 22nd October when it sets off from Dromtrasna National School.

ow in its eighth year, the Dromtrasna Challenge has grown to become a calendar event in the community supported by young and not so young.

2K Kids Run, starting at 10.00, never fails to disappoint, bringing a great buzz and excitement to the event.

Following the children’s event curtain-raiser, the roads of Dromtrasna and surrounding areas will come alive with 4K Walkers and 5K and 10K chip-timed runners starting at 11:00. The routes through Dromtrasna and Caherhayes are always a treat for runners and walkers alike, offering a great workout at each participant’s chosen level.

On crossing the finish line, all participants in all events will receive a Dromtrasna Challenge 2022 Finisher’s Medal. Afterwards, hot food and refreshments are served in the school through the hospitality of the local community.

“The Dromtrasna Challenge gives us all the opportunity to support Milford Care Center who do such wonderful work in their Hospice Inpatient Unit, as well as more services to our community through Hospice at Home services, Day care for older people and people with palliative care needs as well as death support,” a spokesman said.

“Very few of us have not seen first-hand the support Milford has to offer our loved ones at a very difficult time in their lives. The Dromtrasna Challenge 2022 gives us the opportunity to take that step for Milfor,” they added.
