Detroit Pistons pick up Hamidou Diallo’s team option, reject others

The Detroit Pistons had a flurry of transactions Tuesday with their players before the free agency began on Thursday.

The Pistons chose the team options of Hamedo Diallo ($5.2 million), and rejected team options over Frank Jackson ($3.2 million), Carson Edwards ($1.8 million) and Luca Garza ($1.6 million), according to a league source.

Then later on Tuesday, the Pistons traded for the Knicks, capturing center Nerlence Noel and guard Alec Burks along with two second-round picks for the money. The team also extended the qualifying bid for striker/centre Marvin Bagley III.

Having put together the best season of his career, Diallo was given a chance to build on it. He started his career 29 games last year and averaged 11.0. points and 4.8 rebounds. He was arguably the most athletic player on the list and has thrived as an energy producer.
