Dave Roberts joins Bryan Snicker’s National League coaching staff for the 2022 MLB All-Star

MLB has announced the coaches and honorary staff for the 2022 All-Star Game, which will take place on Tuesday, July 19, at Dodger Stadium.

National League manager Brian Sneeker of the Atlanta Braves has invited defending champions Washington National Team captain Dave Martinez and Dave Roberts of the Los Angeles Dodgers to be part of his coaching staff.

This means that the NL team will consist of the last three World Championship managers. Roberts, now in his seventh season as a Dodgers manager, has led the National League in three consecutive All-Star games (2018, 2019 and 2021). Major Liguerre for 10 years led the Dodgers to the 2020 World Championship title, which was the club’s first since 1988.

Martinez served as an All-Star coach in 2009, 2017, and 2018, when he served on the staff of the Tampa Bay Rays, Chicago Caps, and the Nationals respectively. Major Liguerre, 16, is in his fourth season as national team manager and led the club to the 2019 World Championship – their first since 1924.

For the Major League, Houston Astros manager Dusty Baker asked four-time All-Star Willie Horton to serve as honorary coach. Troy Snicker, Brian’s son, will also be Becker’s batting coach.

Horton played 18 in the major leagues, including from 1963-1977 with the Detroit Tigers, hitting 0.273 with 325 home points and 1,163 RBI. He was a key part of the 1968 World Championships, hitting 0.285 with career best totals of 36 on home soil and 0.543 lags in the regular season.

Horton ranks fifth in Tigers history with 262 home games and 10 with 886 RBI, his number 23 was retired by the organization in 2000. He currently works as a Special Assistant to the Executive Vice President of Baseball Operations and General Manager for the Tigers.

NL’s athletic coaches will be Thomas Albert of the Dodgers and PJ Mainville of the Cubs. NL Shaw of the Arizona Diamondbacks will manage the strength and conditioning of the NL.

AL’s athletic coaches will be Brad Pearson of the Boston Red Sox and Michael Sandoval of the Rise. Brett McCabe of the New York Yankees will oversee AL’s strength and conditioning duties.

The latest voting update for the 2022 MLB All-Star Game His Dodgers teammates Mookie Betts and Trea Turner are still on track to start at Dodger Stadium. The Betts leads all National League players with 2,270.566 votes, and Turner tops the NL short breaks with 1,369,759 votes.
