‘I can’t spend my life with anyone else’: Coronation Street’s Alex Bain, 20, announces engagement to girlfriend Mollie Lockwood, 19
Alex Bain has announced that he has popped the question to his girlfriend of two years, Mollie Lockwood.

Alex revealed the news for the first time in a joint interview with Mollie, 19, and confessed they have been secretly engaged for a whole year.

Mollie explained that Alex got down on one knee last October on a romantic date night.
The lovebirds then broke the happy news to their friends and families over Christmas, two months later.

Explaining why the couple kept the news a secret for so long, Mollie said: ‘We wanted to enjoy that special time together, just the two of us, for a while.’
Speaking about her nerves, Alex said: ‘I thought, “If I don’t do it now, I’m going to keep getting more and more nervous!” I was pretty sure she’d say yes, but I still walled it off.’
Alex became a father at 17 when his then boyfriend Levi Selby gave birth to their daughter Lydia-Rose aged just 16.

At the time, a source told The Sun: ‘They were over the moon at the birth of their baby girl and were really happy together.
‘But they’ve been through a lot together and they’re both still so young.’
Their relationship ended the following May and the soap star met dancer Mollie in 2018.
Alex has previously credited his daughter and his role on Corrie for saving him from ‘dark times’ in the past.
He said: ‘If I didn’t stick with the job I’m in now I’d be lost.
‘Corrie has kept me going and especially having a daughter has kept me going – it gives me something to do.’
His hard work has paid off as he has twice won Best Young Soap Performance – first at the British Soap Awards in 2011, and again in 2014 at the Inside Soap Awards.
