Chelsea transfer target Ousmane Dembele has reportedly told Barcelona coach Xavi that he would like to stay at the Nou Camp, JOSHUA MBU . writes.

The 25-year-old’s contract will expire at the end of the month.

The move to Stamford Bridge would see Dembele reunited with Thomas Tuchel, who had been working under Borussia Dortmund.

However, according to Catalan newspaper Mundo Deportivo, Dembele has contacted Barcelona president Xavi that he would like to stay.

On the Barcelona side, the club is not ready to budge on the offer already on the table for the Frenchman.

If Dembele re-signs with the Catalan giants, he will play a key role in the front line with Xavi.

In May, Xavi said of Dembele’s situation: “Negotiations are underway and we will be optimistic.

“I hope he can stay – he has helped us a lot over the past six months.

“He is a decisive player, he has a lot of assists and he has been excellent in many matches.

“When he didn’t play, we missed him. He is a footballer that I love and we want to stay, but we have to see him.”
