A 21-year-old man suffers life-changing injuries after an attack in Loones Park

A 21-year-old man sustained life-changing injuries after being attacked in Swindon Park this evening.

Police remain at the scene in Lawns Park – next to The Planks in Old Town – where a cordon has been in place since about 5 p.m. while evidence is being collected.

The victim has since been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford for serious injuries.

His injuries are said to have changed his life, but they are not life-threatening.

No one has been arrested in connection with the incident but inquiries are ongoing.

In a statement tonight, Wiltshire Police said: “Officers have currently cordoned off an area in The Planks, Old Town, following a serious attack earlier this evening (28/6).

“We were called shortly after 5pm following reports that a 21-year-old man had been assaulted.

“He has been taken to John Radcliffe Hospital in Oxford and it is believed that his injuries are life-changing but not life-threatening.

“No one has been arrested in connection with this incident at the moment, but our investigations are ongoing.

“Anyone with information should call us at 101 and quote from the 225th record of the day.”
